The CFMOTO Aspar Team has today achieved the triple crown in the Moto3 category. David Alonso, who was crowned world champion in Japan, has claimed a new victory in the Thai GP, a win that seals the three championships the team was fighting for. Thanks to the twelve victories that the Colombian has scored, CFMOTO has become the first Chinese manufacturer to win the constructors’ title in the World Championship. In addition, the CFMOTO Aspar Team has also won the teams’ championship with two races to go.
The Moto3 world champion continues to make history. With the win in Buriram, Alonso is now the rider with the most wins in a single year in the lightweight category, beating Valentino Rossi’s record from 1997. Furthermore, the Colombian has become the first rider in Moto3 history to win five races in a row. After having competed in both practice and qualifying in dry conditions and with high temperatures, the rain has changed the race conditions. As a result, the race distance has been reduced from 19 to 12 laps to give the riders more time to check the conditions of the asphalt. However, at the start, the track was practically dry and the riders have opted to put dry tyres. CFMOTO Aspar Team rider David Alonso has started from fifth place, but he has quickly recovered positions to remain in the top three throughout the race. With four laps to go, Alonso has overtaken Taiyo Furusato to take the lead and, although Ivan Ortolá has overtaken him on the last lap, the champion has quickly recovered the first position to claim his twelfth victory of the year.
CFMOTO Aspar Team rider Joel Esteban has been unable to see the chequered flag at the Thai GP. The Spanish, who has started from eighteenth, has been really strong in the first laps and has climbed up to twelfth place. Esteban has fought in the second group throughout the race until he has high sided with three laps to go, a crash that has not had physical consequences for the Spanish rider.
In Moto2, CFMOTO Aspar Team rider Izan Guevara has completed a great comeback in the Thai GP to achieve his best result of the season. The Spanish has started from eighteenth place and has gradually recovered positions until he has arrived to fourth. Guevara has given his all until the chequered flag and in the end, he has finished sixth. His teammate Jake Dixon has completed a great start in Buriram and has climbed up to third place in the first laps. However, the CFMOTO Aspar Team rider has not felt comfortable with the bike and has not been able to keep up with his rivals. The British has crossed the finish line in seventh position, just behind his teammate.
